Troy is a lifelong resident of Freeport, Illinois, and is passionate about the community and the opportunities available to its next generation of leaders. A graduate of Aquin High School and Highland Community College, he went on to earn is Master's degree in Business Management. He has spent much of his career and personal life investing in the people and community of Northwest Illinois.

He spent 23 years with MetLife in Freeport and also spent more than seven years as a partner in a small business in downtown Freeport. These experiences provided him with a unique perspective on both the corporate world and the challenges and rewards of owning and operating a local business.

Community involvement has always been an important part of Troy's life. He coached youth sports for 19 years and has served both on the Freeport Planning Commission and Freeport City Council. Through these experiences, he has developed a strong appreciation for leadership, teamwork, relationships, and the importance of giving back to the community.

As a facilitator for Northwest Illinois CEO, Troy is excited to bring his professional and community experiences together to help students learn beyond the traditional classroom. He believes some of the most valuable lessons come through real-world experiences, meaningful relationships, asking questions, taking risks, and learning from both successes and failures. He looks forward to connecting students with local entrepreneurs and business leaders while helping them discover their own strengths, interests, and potential.

Outside of CEO, Troy enjoys spending time with his wife, Renee, their two sons, and two granddaughters. He especially cherishes time with his grandchildren and enjoys exploring the beautiful Northwest Illinois countryside by gravel bike.
